A step-by-step guide to activating your IPVanish, NordVPN or Mullvad key from Nexys, including what a failed activation looks like and the first fix to try.
So you picked up an IPVanish, NordVPN or Mullvad key from our store and you want it running in the next few minutes. This guide walks you through activation for all three, step by step, and it works whether you bought it or you are still deciding.
Before you begin, you need three things: the key code that arrived in your delivery email, a stable internet connection, and the official VPN app on the device you plan to use. Keep your order email open in a tab. That key is your whole ticket.
People often skip this first step and try to activate with no app installed. Every VPN on our shelf needs its own client running before a key will work, so the app comes first.
Once the app opens, you will be asked to sign in. For IPVanish and NordVPN you log in with the email and password you create on first setup, then paste your key where the app asks for it. For Mullvad the login is different: Mullvad uses an account number rather than an email, so paste your key into the account number field when prompted.
Each vendor has its own flow, but the pattern holds. You either create an account first or paste the key straight in. Follow the on-screen prompts and use the key exactly as it appears in your order email, including any dashes.
When you hit the redemption button, the app contacts the vendor and attaches the subscription to your account. This usually takes under a minute. You should see a confirmation screen, a success message, or your plan length appear on your account page.
Watch your typing here. A VPN key is case-sensitive in most apps, and one stray space can kill the whole redemption. Paste instead of typing wherever you can, and do not add a space at the end of the code. If you typed it and it failed, paste it and try again before anything else.
Once the key is redeemed, pick a server location and hit connect. The app should switch to connected in a few seconds.
To confirm it worked, do a quick check: open your browser and search for your IP address. If the location shown matches the server you chose rather than your real one, your VPN is live and your key is active. That is your verification step, and it is the fastest way to know you are done.
A failed activation usually shows one of three messages: an invalid or incorrect key error, an already-in-use notice, or the app simply not accepting your login. None of these mean your key is broken.
The first fix is always the same: copy the key fresh from your order email, close the app completely, and paste it into a clean attempt. Typos and leftover trailing characters cause most failed redemptions, and a clean paste resolves them.
## If It Still Does Not WorkIf a clean paste still fails, check that you redeemed the key on the correct product. Our store carries IPVanish, NordVPN and Mullvad, and each key only works with its own app. A NordVPN key will never redeem in IPVanish, and an IPVanish key will not work in the Mullvad client.
When the right app and a clean paste are both in place and the key still refuses, contact our support team with your order number and the exact error message. Our refund policy covers keys that will not activate, so a genuine defect is something we will sort out with you.
Whatever VPN you chose, your key attaches to the account you redeemed it to, so keep your login details safe and do not share the key before you have used it. If you have questions about device limits or updates for your pick, the product page lists the details for your specific VPN.
