How to Secure a GTA 5 Account After Delivery

Why the First Hour Matters

You will need the account credentials from your order email and access to a separate email address you control. Set that up before you begin.

Step 1: Log In With the Delivered Credentials

Use the username and password from your order confirmation to log in on the platform the account belongs to. Confirm you can actually get in before you change anything.

If the login fails immediately, stop and contact support rather than proceeding. A wrong credential or a locked account is easier to fix before you start changing details.

Do not do this step over a shared public connection if you can avoid it. Use your own network when you take control.

Step 2: Change the Password First

This is the first thing you change, before the email. Open the account settings and find the password change option. Set a password you have never used anywhere else.

This step breaks the seller's recovery path. As long as the seller holds the email on file, they can reset the password and retake the account through normal recovery. Moving the email to an address only you control closes that route.

Keep that email address secure and use one you check regularly. It will receive any future password resets and security notices.

Step 4: Turn On Two-Factor Authentication

With the email and password changed, enable two-factor authentication. This adds a second check when logging in from a new device.

Most platforms support an authenticator app rather than SMS, and an authenticator app is the better option where it is available. SMS recovery can be hijacked if your phone number is compromised.

Save any backup codes the platform gives you somewhere offline. Losing them can lock you out of your own account later.

Step 5: Check for Any Linked Logins

Before you call it done, review the account for linked logins and linked devices. Sign out of every session that is not yours.

Log out completely, then log back in with your new password, your new email, and your two-factor code. If you get in cleanly through that flow, the account now answers to you.
